Jun 20, 2018 at 4:10 | comment | added | JMY1000♦ | Would you prefer a 13" or a 15" model? (There's also 17" but they're really pricy and kinda old.) Additionally, within the MacBook Pro line there's sort of this cut-off point where Apple jumped from using a "standard" display to a "Retina" display, basically getting a much nicer (both resolution and color-wise) display while becoming significantly lighter and thinner while losing a little I/O and upgradability. Do you have a preference for one or the other?

Jun 15, 2018 at 17:43 | comment | added | JMY1000♦ | Do you specifically want a MacBook Pro or would you be interested in a MacBook Air or MacBook? Would used be okay? What about Apple Refurbished (basically new)?

Jun 14, 2018 at 13:53 | comment | added | tale852150 | @JMY1000 - good question. I am looking for a Mac laptop comparable to a Dell Latitude E7450, 500GB SSD, Intel i7, 8GB memory. The Oracle database is a free version (XE version).
Jun 14, 2018 at 9:20 | comment | added | JMY1000♦ | Somewhat confused as to what the requirements are here. You've stated you a Mac to develop for the Apple ecosystem, but then go on to discuss a webapp using an Oracle DB. What exactly are you building here? Sidenote: What's you target? A $150 MacBook from 2008 will run the latest version with a little fiddling, and will actually feel fine day-to-day with a quick SSD upgrade, but it's really not going to be doing much. Do you have a baseline of what's acceptable using a comparable laptop from another vendor?
