As per subject I'm looking for a 5ghz low profile PCI-E wireless card supported on Linux.

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 with HWE. Any recommendation?

Thanks!

Here is an option for you as there are really lots of options when it comes down to wireless cards. The TP-Link AC1300 WiFi PCI-Express Wireless Network Card (Archer T6E) is available through amazon for around $50.

The card has been tested with several versions of Linux and others have reported success using Linux Ubuntu.

There are several models available I just listed the 1300 but they have a 900 which is smaller and still pci-e so that might fit your case better. Not sure what your network router is setup for so I would only use what your router speed is set and not pay more for what you can't even use.
