I look for a headset to use with my Android phone and PC. Here are the criteria:

  1. No wires. I already have a headset with one earbud torn off the wire.
  2. Fastening to auricle with a hook or something like that. Being just put into ear canal earbuds tend to fall out.
  3. No need to put deep into ear canal. I'm fed up with cleaning earwax off the earbuds.
  4. Microphone
  5. Not too expensive. $100 for a headset looks too much for me.

BackBeat FIT 3200 matches p.1-4. But TWS isn't very handy if you need to free your ear quickly for a minute or two. You can't just pull the earbud out and let it hang on the wire. Furthermore, BackBeat FIT 3200 is too expensive.

At a first glance AirPods look even worse as they don't match p.2. But ear hooks can be bought separately. There's even a strap that lets AirPods to be quickly pulled out the ear. It doesn't transmit any signal so it will be no harm if the strap is torn off an earbud. Unfortunately, the hooks and the strap don't look they can be fitted at the same time. EarHooks look like intended to be tied up with some cord (there is a hole on each hook). But I haven't found such cord. And AirPods are even more expensive than BackBeat FIT 3200 and doesn't make much sense for me as I use an Android phone.

There are some AirPods analogs like Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 but I don't know if they're compatible with AirPod Strap or EarHooks.

  • I know they're kinda speedy, but my AirPods Pro are amazing. The sound is fantastic and the redesigned ear tip really makes a difference. As for needing to free your ear quickly, if you turn on transparency mode, you don't even need to take it out of your ear. If you could save up for a little while and spend a little extra to get them, I would highly suggest doing so. Sometimes they even go on sale for around $160 USD.
